THERE'S NOTHING PRETTY ABOUT UGLY.

WHY would anyone lower their standards to air their "plumbing problems" in public?!?!? Forgive me for discussing such a delicate subject today but yesterday was a real shocker! As a writer, I have no choice but "tell it as it happened".

"Today, I experienced "a first". A young shopper (probably early twenties) was standing in front of me in the Grocery Store Check-Out line---- and calmly began jet-propelling sounds and smells from her behind; actions that would have caused the walking dead to gag!  I'm now convinced there are no acts and no subjects that are worthy of shock-value anymore.

We seem to be living in a shock-proof world where nothing is taboo. Here’s my quick assessment of today’s reality:  Scratch it where-ever and when-ever it itches; rub it for as long as it feels good; take it or them "public" to show whomever wants a peek; and drop-those-drawers to display your g-string or thong whenever the urge hits you. No toilet paper? No problem! And-- no apologies!

With today’s defiant attitudes, no one would dare say: "you can’t belch, fart, puke, masturbate—where-ever you want."  WHY?!?!? "Because it’s your right"!

You’re the only one who matters and if someone complains…just get in their face, give them the finger and tell them to “F… Off”.

We’ve really come a long way and---IN MY OPINION--we're almost ready to hit rock-bottom.  And now, thinking out loud:

“Whatever happened to the days of being proud of your manners? When did you STOP wanting others to admire you, compliment your appearance, your art of conversation, your talent, and your accomplishments?  And when did a woman reject the idea of being a Lady, of being elegantly dressed, of being well-spoken and admired for possessing class,  and a beautiful appearance?  Where are today’s Ladies…the Grace Kellys and Jackie Kennedys of the world.....the beautiful women who deserve the spotlight---deserve to serve as role models for young women-- everywhere?

When everything and everyone of value is dead; when all the fine china and sterling silver, linens and silk, handmade embroidery, white gloves and party manners, have all been ditched-pitched- discarded; when the beautiful anti-bellum homes, beautiful statues, classic gardens and elegant lifestyles are nothing but history; when the lovely trees, fabulous wildlife, the wide-open spaces with waterfalls, lakes, and rivers, have been destroyed to make way for maintenance-free plastic and industrial concrete, futuristic pre-fab buildings, robotic-controlled businesses, and….when the latest in technology has replaced everything old, memorable, slow, beautiful, and classic---will the “me” generation—finally---be happy”??!?!?!?

When all the good is gone---The Beautiful life as we once knew it will be cold, dead, and buried---and, hopefully, so will we.
