IT'S CALLED "WORK" BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT WE'RE EXPECTED TO DO!
I've been called many names over the years but "rich bitch" was never one of them. It was easy to see I had a "no-frills" lifestyle.
I began working parttime at the age of 16 yrs.....and by the age of 21 yrs... was a fulltime worker. Many years later, my fulltime employment ended at the age of 75 yrs...and it wasn't my decision. It seems my age proved to be a problem for my young (late twenties) male boss.
Work is work. You don't analyze it or contemplate it...you just do it. Even the weekend---when you don't get paid---- involves "work"....like laundry, grocery-buying, car upkeep, housework, even yardwork. I've never felt the need to complain; working is a way-of-life and most responsible Americans "just do it."
Now, I live on Social Security-- only. For most of you, no other explanation is necessary. I'm sure many can easily identify when I say "frugality" is not-only a difficult word to say and spell....it's an even more difficult word to apply to everyday life. But.. I appreciate who I am and what I have and never ceased to enjoy every moment....until now.
For the first time in my life.... I'm madder than Hell. Now I see Politicians for WHO THEY ARE: A corrupt cult, comparible to a highly-organized mafia. They enjoy large salaries, multiple benefits, exceptionally-long holidays and vacations, and aren't required to work a 40 hour week or a 9-5 workday. Member of Congress "come and go" as they wish...work only when its convenient. They can "keep" their jobs while they search-fulltime-for a better one. If they aren't successful in being "hired" by others..they simply stay with their present one, never missing a paycheck.
Members of Congress don't have to demonstrate respect for others or for those who pay their salaries! They certainly don't have to prove they can "do the job". In fact...Congressional members can curse people publically and it doesn't affect their job status! JUST IMAGINE...THEY CAN'T BE FIRED..FOR ANY REASON.. BY THEIR EMPLOYERS.
So....I decided to look at the basic benefits these "very special" people will receive....if they every decide to part-ways with the "Goose who keeps laying the golden eggs." Remember, Congress hides most of their sideline benefits, including their chummy relationships with lobbists. (I'll share more of what I know on that subject, later). Here are the published and public Basic Benefits:
In 2016, Congressional pay was $174,000 per year, which, at an 80% rate, equates to a lifelong pension benefit of $139,200. All benefits are taxpayer-funded.
Additionally, members of Congress enjoy the same Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) as all other federal employees, which is similar to a 401(k).Feb 5, 2018
And....members of Congress
receive Social Security Benefits.
MOST OF US WOULD THINK WE'D WON THE LOTTERY IF WE SUDDENLY HAD NEARLY $200,000 EVERY YEAR FOR THE REST OF OUR LIVES!!!!!!!
PS....Betcha the majority in Congress don't know the meaning of the word FRUGALITY or how to use it in a complete sentence. Forget any of them knowing how to spell it!!!
