NEVER FORGET TO SAY: THANK YOU.

FOUR YEARS AGO, A FACEBOOK FRIEND CHALLENGED ME TO BEGIN POSTING A "THANK YOU" LIST.  NOW, MY THANK YOU LIST HAS BECOME MY DAILY CONVERSATION WITH GOD. I’m sharing one of my first “Thank You Lists” ….followed by a much-later “Thank You”.

-----------------------------------------------------

Today is Monday, May, 2016, and GOD, I AM SO THANKFUL:

To still be observant and always learning. This morning, I walked on my patio and saw a few dead leaves covered with little broken bumps. I said "thank you" God for teaching me the secret of the bumpy dead leaves. Several years ago (late Spring) after noticing there were thousands of ladybugs everywhere and  thousands of leaves covered with “broken bumps”, I took a few leaves to a Garden Center. It was fascinating to learn my favorite tree, the one hanging over the patio, is a rare breeding tree for lady bugs! I love all the sweet little lady bugs but never knew how they “got here’ and now---I do!

Oh, God…Thank You… for all my memories. It makes me smile when I can so-easily remember...my first kiss. Nothing can replace the memory of the very-first time a SPECIAL-SOMEONE shared a lip-to-lip moment with me. Thank you.... David Breshears.

Thanks for making my childhood a memorable experience. Even now, I can almost taste my very-first piece of bubble gum. Thank You for teaching me that some sweet and unique experiences are only temporary and must be "enjoyed" for-the-moment. It was during the mid-forties and one piece of bubble gum cost one, precious penny. Bubble Gum was unique, rare....extremely scarce....and almost impossible to find in that post war era. I remember a vigorous day of chewing and learning to blow bubbles--then, before going to bed, wrapping the sticky wad in wax paper to save for tomorrow. Days later, when the gum became too tough to chew and had lost its flavor, my wonderful treat had to be thrown away. Such an exciting but short-lived pleasure--- for just one penny!

ALL things come from thee, Oh Lord. Be with all of us today; guide and protect us; and make us THANKFUL for so many experiences—so many blessings--even those that are temporary and cost a simple penny.

On December 11, 2019… I wrote: Every Day is my THANKFUL DAY and TODAY-- I'm THANKFUL FOR:

Forgiveness. In my lifetime, I have taken some wrong turns, acted impulsively, and experienced more than enough mistakes. After many serious-talks with God, I have felt his constant love and experienced his forgiveness.  God has taught me to forgive myself-- the most difficult task of all.

God, it may sound silly but…THANK YOU for teaching me the importance of my skate key. The skates disappeared a very long time ago but today… I found the Skate Key in my old jewelry box…and smiled.  Long ago, I kept the treasured key on a multi-colored ribbon and hung it around my neck. I learned to keep it close—to even sleep with it. No key....No skating!

God….Thanks for helping me maintain my Curiosity. Always wondering, investigating situations, and searching endless possibilities can expand our lives, even as adults. Life is more interesting when we examine the world through curious eyes. In one particular case---I know someone whose curiosity caused her to dig really-deep for such a long time ---that she found herself in China!

Dear Lord and Father of mankind, forgive me for—sometimes--- having foolish ways. Help me be more-aware of life's beauty and keep me always- curious about your wonderful world. Restore my interest in simple joys; keep the child inside me--alive--and well.  Please continue to guide and direct my path and......teach my heart to hold-fast to the simple sweetness of younger days.

ALWAYS AND FOREVER,

Sally
