ME ----A COWGIRL??!?!?!?
It may surprise some of you…or maybe most of you…MEN of varying ages often send me emails, messages--- even try to call me. I don’t usually respond. It’s a waste of my time--as well as theirs. I hardly-ever know the person contacting me and--- believe me when I say--- "I learned my lesson about "gamblin" on men--- long ago BUT……
I was writing on my laptop when a message notice popped up from someone named Jack. Jack’s last name was unfamiliar and---his first name was definitely one “strike” against him but--on impulse-- I opened the message. Instead of the usual trite and boring question: “How are you doing?”---this guy Jack asked: “Sally, are you happy?”
I can’t remember the last time anyone asked me that question so I decided to answer. I said: “For me, no two days are the same. I look for satisfaction and a degree of happiness in everything I do.” About ten minutes passed before I got this reply: “Okay, I think I understood that. I’m looking for a companion--but I’m not sure you are.” I should have left well-enough alone but--I couldn’t let him have the “last word” so I wrote: “I would enjoy having a close friend--a very-special and true confidante. It would be fun having someone who liked sharing a variety of adventures while looking at the world through “curious” eyes”!
Almost immediately, Jack responded: “Okay that helps. I’m basically looking for the same. My profile states---I’m a single cowboy looking for adventures, who loves to travel and has “tons” to offer. The simple life is my life. I want to add someone to it but I don’t want a complicated life….no drama, just fun. I like your looks but I needed to know more about you. From what you’ve written, I think I’m looking for a more-personal touch but--thanks anyway.”
The Cowboy’s quick farewell seemed strange---so I entered his name on Facebook. Dear old Jack had very-few photos of himself but one photo showed him wearing chaps and standing beside a horse trailer. He was trim-enough with gray hair and moustache, nice-looking and I’d estimate—“somewhere-over-seventy “.
Jack had nearly one thousand FB Friends and most were women. In fact, he was seriously “following” two women. I guess they were both finalists in the “TONS TO OFFER” Adventure. One said she’d grown-up with her own horse and loved “all things horses”. This finalist was young, probably in her twenties so maybe Jack could be her “sugar daddy” or-- even better-- her “Rhinestone Cowboy”!
The other finalist was older and judging from her appearance and suggestive clothing--I suspect she’s quite “handy” when it comes to men--but she didn’t mention how she “handled” horses.
I don’t doubt the older “finalist” has a unique “personal touch”, something I appeared to lack. In fact, she might be able to teach Jack more than a few things about “FUN AND ADVENTURE”--especially with his “tons to offer.” Too Bad--we'll never know if Jack was referring to his money, horses, play toys, personal equipment---or a special "talent".
Clearly, Jack and I have nothing in common. He lives in Utah, attended Brigham Young University, he's Mormon, and has spent lots of time on farms and the “wide-open-spaces”. Judging from his many Facebook photos of women in interesting stages of “undress”--Jack likes his women to look-like “Show Horses”.
Maybe Mormon Men like their women to “show” a lot so it’s easier for the men to “horse” around.
I think I’ll just stay loyal to my favorites--Roy Rogers and Trigger. I certainly don't plan on trading my Crown for a Cowgirl Hat—anytime soon.
